At present, we have 3 committees planned:
**Background Guides to come!
Cybersecurity and the Prevention of Cyber Warfare – DISEC (Beginner)
The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), a key body within the United Nations, plays a crucial role in addressing emerging global security challenges. As cyber threats escalate in both scale and sophistication, DISEC is increasingly focused on the critical issue of cybersecurity and the prevention of cyber warfare.
Cyber warfare represents a new frontier in conflict, where attacks on digital infrastructure can disrupt economies, compromise national security, and threaten civilian lives without a single shot being fired. At this session, delegates will examine the complex landscape of cyber threats, from state-sponsored hacking to cyberterrorism, and explore international frameworks to prevent escalation and promote stability in cyberspace.
With nations grappling with how to regulate and respond to cyber aggression, DISEC’s discussions will be vital in shaping cooperative strategies that uphold peace and security in the digital age. Balancing technological innovation with robust safeguards, the committee aims to foster trust, transparency, and resilience among states to prevent cyber conflicts before they start.
Refugee Crisis and Forced Migration – UNHCR (Intermediate)
Established in 1950, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, is a leading international agency dedicated to protecting and assisting refugees worldwide. Its mandate is to safeguard the rights and well-being of displaced people by providing protection, coordinating humanitarian aid, and promoting durable solutions.
At the upcoming conference, participants will concentrate on one of the most pressing humanitarian crises today: forced migration and the growing global refugee situation.
As countries respond differently to this challenge, policies vary significantly. For example, the United States and the United Kingdom have reinforced enforcement bodies such as ICE, focusing on border security and immigration control. In contrast, Spain is advocating for the legal recognition and protection of migrants.
Within this complex environment, UNHCR faces a crucial task: how to effectively support and protect millions forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, and instability. This conference will serve as a key platform to discuss solutions that uphold security, human dignity, and shared international responsibility.
ADHOC (Advanced Crisis Committee)
An ADHOC (Advanced Crisis Committee) is a high intensity debate that relies on improvisions by the delegates. The topic is dictated solely by actions during the conference, and is kept mainly secret until the day of. ADHOC committees demand that the delegates are critical of decision-making with a focus on taking initiative, targeting a focus on confidence rather than research.
With that being said, here is a hint as to what this committee will detail.
A new world order.
